At Salterns, we have often been asked if we provide boats for home completion. Requests come for bare hulls which need knowledge, skill and some experience to complete, through to the wish to make the finishing touches and varnish an otherwise fully built boat.
To meet this need, we offer the Sou’wester 18, a craft based on traditional West Country Working Boat lines, which matches the rest of the Salterns’ stable of excellent performing boats with a working pedigree.
The Sou’wester’s len...

Long considered one of the world’s safest offshore cruisers, the Tayana 42’s reputation far exceeds others in her class.
She’s solidly built, rigged above specs., and built to endure. Robert Harris designed her for power, reliability, speed, grace and minimum maintenance. These have been borne out time and time again for us during our 35,000 miles of wonderful blue water cruising. She is also ideally suited for coastal cruising and entertaining in the marina or at anchor. We have made her the...

Designed an built by Alan F Platt at his ‘hideaway’ yard in Thudersley, Essex, the Finesse 24 is a traditionally-built, clinker cruiser. She has many of the qualities built into her smaller sister, the 21, and, inherent with her increased beam, some of the internal ‘comforts’ which became accepted features on modern, glassfibre, production boats.
A classic wooden boat, the Finesse continued in production because it was a successful design with popular appeal. Built on the East Coast, the shallo...

This yacht is a very pretty classic that has latterly been rigged as a bermudan cutter. Originally, she was gaff rigged with a lifting keel.
She has lots of nice features and not unreasonable room below - if only sitting headroom.
She has been in the same ownership for ten years and has clearly been well loved and I am told, she sails beautifully.
Although built at Olivers Yard in Porthleven, she may be an East Coast design - anyone know ? If so, email me and I will update the detail...
